Issues statements on behalf of JKPCC | Soz throws rules to winds | | Peerzada Ummer ET Report SRINAGAR, Mar 12: The ousted state Congress chief Saif-ud-din Soz seems to be throwing rules to winds and continues to issue statements on behalf JKPCC. Much to the disappointment of the party cadre, Soz on Thursday came out with a detailed statement about his pledge to guard Article 370, saying he would strive to protect it from all odds. Pertinently Soz had issued a statement stating that none other than the party president shall issue statements. The order came on December 30, last year when Soz was the state chief of the party. He issued a statement saying only the party president and the spokesman can issue the party handouts and same from any other person from Congress shall not be entertained by the news dailies. Now, when the former Congress minister G.A. Mir has been appointed as the JKPCC chief with Soz having no post at all within the party, it turns out to be a bizarre entity that statements are being issued by him. "Perhaps Soz still has the notion that he is a party president and can issue the statements to press. What he forgets is that he no longer can issue diktats to the party men. He is throwing rules to winds the rules in a bid to remain somehow in news," says one of the former Congress leaders. Pertinently, Soz in a statement issued on Thursday termed himself as a former Union Minister following with a claim that no authority in India can abrogate or modify 370 except the people of Jammu and Kashmir state. What remains to be seen in future is that whether Mr Soz would abide by the party decisions or undermine its norms only to attain fame and media attention. It would also be an interesting situation to watch that whether Soz would follow the instructions of the new JKPCC chief or would strive for the vice-versa. |
