RHRSS organizes training programme for farmers | | | Early Times Report
Bhaderwah, Mar 12: Regional Horticulture Research Sub-station of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu today organized one day training programme on "Canopy management and plant architectural engineering for higher productivity and quality in apple" at Bhaderwah. According to press release, Dr. Mahital Jamwal, Principal Investigator of the Network Project apprised the participants about the importance of canopy management in apple tress for achieving higher productivity and quality in apples. He discussed about the role of suitable apple rootstock in maintaining the canopy, productivity and quality of apples. Dr. Neeraj Kotwal and Dr. V.K. Singh elaborated the participants about different plant protection measures to be taken care of against insect-pests and diseases in apples. Dr. Rohit Sharma talked about the importance of soil testing before establishing the orchards and suggested recommended doses of manures and fertilizers for obtaining optimum production from apple trees. The training was conducted in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) sponsored Network Project on outreach of Technologies for Temperate Fruit Crops under the guidance of Dr. J.P. Sharma, Director Research of SKUAST-Jammu. |
