Bogus assurance certificates issued from NIACL, official assures remedial steps

Early Times Report

kathua, Mar 12: What could be termed as 'illegitimate practice' from a the main source, the Kathua people are disappointed when they found some black moles in New India Assurance Company Ltd (NIACL) Kathua unit openly issuing bogus insurance certificates to some vested elements. However Branch Manager has regretted the menace and assured people to take remedial measures in this regard.
The mal practice came to light when owner of a vehicle bearing registration number JK03D 0631 approached to the office for renewal of his assurance policy. "Owner made an assurance policy bearing number 35070731140100002074 on 30th of Nov.2013 where the company assured for seven passengers plus one (Driver) i.e. eight persons and collected huge premium from him, sources said adding, " the same person again approached to the NIACL Kathua on 30th of Nov 2014 for renewal of policy under bearing number 35070731140100002173 where same company assured for seven only rather than eight in earlier." The case not only left the owner of vehicle surprised but also others whom he showed the document and all wondered how can company squeezes the capacity of the vehicle in different policies of the same vehicle?
This may be an isolated case but it has brought a 'tip of iceberg' of mal practices in the organizations and gullible consumers falling prey to hawkish eyes of the vested interested employees.
When approached to GS Chandel, Branch Manager NIACL Kathua, regretted the incident and defended it might be due to some technical problems which would be rectified soon. He said company prepares assurance as per seating capacity as shown by the automobile company. However when asked about the assurance of JKO3D-0631 vehicle, he preferred a brief reply that organization regrets the case. Astonishingly an A M Best Company; Delhi awarded the NIACL Company with Best Rating certificates and with this incident clienteles of company are doubting its efficiency and even its rating criteria. Meanwhile some agitated consumers also staged protest demonstration outside NIACL Kathua and sought severe inquiry in other assurance policies too.
