BJP to oppose Rashid's resolution on Guru
3/12/2015 11:49:31 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 12: BJP will oppose any resolution brought in the State Assembly demanding bringing back of mortal remains of mastermind of parliament attack Afzal Guru who was hanged in Delhi's Tihar jail in year 2013. The BJP while making its stand clear said that Party will not tolerate and allow any resolution on return of mortal remains of Guru who was involved in attacking the highest temple of democracy in the country. Making Party's stand clear at a press conference held here this evening BJP chief Spokesperson, Sunil Sethi said that it will hope that alliance partner Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will also follow the suit in the larger interests of coalition dharma. Sethi said the efforts being made by vested interests to vitiate peace and tranquility of State will be thwarted by BJP by concerted and strong efforts. Sethi was flanked by Party spokespersons Balbir Ram Rattan, Dr. Suresh Ajay Magotra and party leader Darakshan Andrabi. While taking stock of situation, which has arisen because of reported move of Engineer Rashid MLA to move resolution in Lower House to bring mortal remains of terrorist Afzal Guru, who was hanged as per judgements of court and whose conviction was upheld by Supreme Court, Sethi said BJP will not allow the same as it is against the national interests. Sethi said that effort to make hero out of a traitor is an attempt to give fresh impetus to dying militancy, which will never be allowed by BJP. His mortal remains coming to State will create a new terror centre and rallying point for anti national forces and will be used by militants and separatists to carry forward their nefarious agenda. Sunil Sethi further said that this is testing time for alliance partners to stand strongly together to defeat forces which are creating conducive atmosphere for militancy and separatism to again rise. Strategy to deal with situation should be formulated jointly before hand to deal with situation.
He further called upon opposition also to stand for national interest and not to support any move which may be against the national interest and which may lead to worsening of law and order.
Though PDP has not made its stand clear but any differences over the resolution between the two coalition partners will give rise to another controversy like that on the release of Masrat Aalam sources said.
