Mendhar, July 12: On the eve of World Population Day, a workshop cum awareness programme was celebrated by Block Medical Officer Mendhar here at hospital premises. According to press release, BMO Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan delivered lectures on the family welfare and population growth and its effects on resource besides expressed their views especially on the decline in the sex ratio and other remedial measures in controlling population growth for the overall development of the country. "The need to adopt family planning methods may it be condom, oral contraceptives, IUCD's, and sterilization (laproligation/NSV) as and when required to stabilize the population growth, reducing the total fertility rate", Khan said, adding that theme of this year for World Population Day is "Vulnerable Populations in Emergencies". He further said that the event was a vehicle to build awareness in population issues and the impact they have on development and the environment |
