Early Times Report

Jammu, July 12:With reports of non-availability of government doctors from different parts of Jammu Province, the tall claims of Minister for Health and Medical Education Chowdhary Lal Singh, that he has ensured best health care for general public, have virtually fallen flat.
If sources are to be believed, number of Primary Health Centers (PHCs) especially the one in rural and remotest belts of Jammu province is functioning without doctors. Either the doctors posted at their respective PHCs haven't joined their services or they are reluctant to provide medicare services on daily basis. Besides, at number of PHCs, the Safai Karamchaaris or Class IV employees posted at PHCs deliver medicines to the ailing patients.
It is pertinent to mention here that every now and then, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Chowdhary Lal Singh boast upon publicly claiming that he has remained the best Minister in Health Sector. Though in city and sub-urban areas he do pose as master reprimanding the Medicos if they are not in uniform and sometimes imposing fines as well but in rural, remote and hilly belts where majority of general and poor populace rely on government health care, the concerned Minister has miserably failed to provide minimum health service, what to talk of best health care services.
According to sources, the people of Reasi and Udhampur district are seething with anger following non availability of Doctors in their respective PHCs. People of Sudhmahadev, Latti, Bandhole, Dudu, Basantgarh, Joffar, Mongri, Rang, Barnara, Thial, Khoon, Landher, Pancheri and Gharaian are up in arms against Chowdhary lal Singh alleging that not even a single doctor is present on duty despite having the sanctioned strength of more than 50 doctors.
Similar is the pain of the poor residents of Chenani, Ghordi and Ramnagar libing in hilly and far flung belts who visit PHCs and get medicines from Sweepers on duty. In case of emergency cases like cardiac arrest and accidents, many a times, the patients in critical condition are unable to reach sub-district hospitals what to talk of reaching here in the winter capital of the state.

"It is very unfortunate that the Health Minister who himself represents a remote and far flung Assembly Constituency like Basohli has miserable failed to put a balm on our pain and agony. If he can direct the authorities to build more health infra-structure in his constituency, then why he is shying to ensure proper medical facilities in these remote belts of Jammu Province as well. Almost all of these Assembly Segments are being represented by his colleague MLAs of BJP," pointed out an elderly lot of Ramnagar while speaking to Early Times. "If sweepers have distribute medicines then why need Chowdhary Lal Singh as Health Minister. If he has no capacity and calibre to serve the people then he must resign on moral grounds. For what, he claims and attract media publicity that he has done a lot, especially for the people of the state," he pointed.
