Jammu, July 12: The residents of Tawi Vihar Colony (TVC) Sidhra have registered protest over construction of a Over Head Tank (OHT) on a park by the PHE department.
They also alleged that officials of Housing and Urban Development Department and the land grabbers have gradually encroached the land of parks and diverting into commercial land.
Pertinently, the residents of TVC, Sidhra has been staging a Dharna on proposed site, against the adamant attitude of PHE department for the last three days and the department concerned (PHE) refusing to concede genuine demand of residents.
A noted Neurologist, Dr Razdan informed Early Times that during the establishment of the colony, the H&UDD had promised to establish seven parks in the Tawi Vihar Colony but after couples of years, five parks out of seven, which were demarcated in TVC, have been encroached by H&UDD and converted into residential plots.
"A park which was recently developed by Floriculture department, Jammu between lane numbers 11&12, PHE is trying to construct an OHT on park land", he added.
He further said, "On the request of locals, the Floriculture department had spend nearly Rs seven lakhs on this park and developed as beautiful spot wherein old person would interact with each other during evening and morning time, a good pathway were also developed for walking, but contrary to this, the PHE department is going to demolish the park by constructing OHT on park's land".
"We have repeatedly opposed the OHT but nothing seems to be moving", he informed. |
