Pahalgam, July 12: In a tragic incident, four members of a nomadic family died when a cloudburst hit upper area of Aru valley in Pahalgam on Sunday afternoon. 40 years old Zakir Hussain, a resident of Trah Rajori who miraculously escaped, lost his wife and three children in this tragic incident. Police identified deceased as Gudi Bibi (38) wife of Zakir Hussain, Mossa (14) son of Zakir Hussain, Zareena (6) daughter of Zakir Hussain and Salma (1 yrs old) daughter of Zakir Hussain. A joint team of Police and NDRF which was rushed to spot, has retrieved the dead bodies of Mossa (14) son of Zakir Hussain, Zareena (6) daughter of Zakir Hussain, however the dead bodies Gudi Bibi (38) and Salma (1 yrs old) remains untraceable. Officials confirming the incident said that this afternoon a cloudburst hit and washed away nomadic family along with the livestock in Geerward area of Aru Valley. "A joint team of Police, NDRF was rushed to spot by the district administration after the incident for the rescue," they said. "Cloudburst hit Geerward forest area of Aru valley and flash floods washed the family which was sitting in a temporary tent. So far as police has retrieved the two dead bodies," Tehsildar Pahalgam, Abdul Gaffar, who was supervising the rescue operation in the area told Early Times over Phone. Meanwhile, due to incessant rainfall, water level in various Nallahs and river Jhelum increased. Four persons trapped in Flood Waters at Adigam, Kokernag were rescued by a Police team, reports sad. Rescued were identified as Contractor Ali Mohammad Bhat resident of Sagam , his brother Mohammad Shafi Bhat, JCB Driver Gowher Ahmad and his helper Mohammad Shafi. According to officials rescued persons were channeling the Nallah which witnessed increase in water level. |
