Meat sellers butcher consumers on Eid eve | | | Mohd Irfan Early Times Report Jammu, July 12: With just a few days left for the Eid-ul-fitr ,butchers are keenly waiting for this festival to make a fast buck and concerned department CAPD is apparently in slumber to check the fixation of rate fixed by the government for meat. With holy month of Ramdhan is about to end, the CAPD has failed to check the prices of mutton. CAPD is entrusted with the job of keeping a check on prices of essential commodities. However, this time it is not visible on the ground. Belying the claims of CAPD Officials that they are on the job to tighten the noose of black marketers, the ground situation tells a different story. The Government sanctioned rate is Rs 280 per kg but butchers sell the same at RS 320 350 per kg. It has been observed that government sanctioned rate is being violated with impunity by these butchers who have taken' Law into themselves' ,if once in a 'blue moon' market checking happens the concerned JMC and CAPD gives the press release for realizing fine from defaulters. Consumers alleged that during the account of some festivals these market checking take place but that too won't cut much ice as again violators back to square one in terms they again sell the meat at will by given a 'damn' to the instructions of CAPD which otherwise boasts claim of redress the grievance of masses. Sohail, a consumer hit out at CAPD for its failure in controlling the prices of essential commodities said" CAPD is not discharging its duties in a professional manner because of their half-hearted approach in curbing the exorbitant prices of meat which is a cuisine on occasion on Eid" he rued. CAPD is not just limited to provide ration to consumers but they have wide powers but they rarely use their powers. |
