In Delhi meeting, BJP chief reviews Maha Sampark Abhiyaan, not performance of J&K govt | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 12: The media reports that had claimed that BJP National President Amit Shah had summoned state party leaders to Delhi to take stock of the working of the J&K government turned out to be untrue as Shah and reviewed the party's ambitious Maha Sampark Abhiyaan aimed at consolidating the base of the party in different states. BJP leaders of eight northern states attended the meeting, and no separate discussion was done on the performance of the BJP ruled states or where BJP was sharing power with its alliance partners. The meeting was attended by party MPs, MLAs, state unit chiefs, mayors, among others from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan. According to a party spokesman, during the review meeting Shah discussed the idea of connecting more with the people to further consolidate the base of the party. He said formal verification and induction of the members would also be carried out during the Abhiyan. Referring to the response of the common people towards BJP's membership drive General Secretary (Organisation) Ram Lal said, "Since the launch of our membership drive, we had sought to connect with and bring in more people, who believe in our party. We had set a target of 10 crore but it has even crossed that, and by April this year, it reached the 11-crore mark." "Workshops would be held in August for party workers and new members. Our idea is to strengthen the party at not just state or district level but also at mandal level," Lal said. He said, "We will also tell our new members and people in general about our party's history and the work done during this one-odd year of the NDA government." |
