Flash floods hit Kulgam again

Kulgam, July 12: At least 15 families were trapped in flood waters in south Kashmir's Kulgam district after flash floods led to an increase in the water level of Vaishaw Nallah on Sunday, officials and witnesses said.
They said the families got trapped in the flood waters in Laisoo-Guddar village of Dumhal Hanjipora area of the district. "Flash floods damaged several houses in the area. Water level has increased in Jhelum river and other nallahs of the district following incessant rains since late last night," officials added. They said efforts are on to pull out the trapped families and evacuate the people who are staying in low lying areas and are staying on the banks of rivers.
