Training programme for change management for Judicial officers organized

Srinagar, July 12: On the instructions of Chief Justice High Court of J&K N. Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Chaiperson e-Court , High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Hon'ble Justice Tashi Rabstan Members e-Committee, High Court of J&K, the 2nd day training on "Ubuntu Linux Awareness Cum Training Program under Change Management" for the Judicial officers of District Srinagar and Jammu, Officers of the High Court Registry and Tribunals was held at High Court Complex Srinagar and J&K State Judicial Academy, Janipur Jammu and same was organized by e-Committee, High court of J&K.
Judicial Officers of these Districts were imparted training on use of Ubuntu Operating System customized by e-Committee, Supreme Court of India. The training was conducted by Proficient Master Trainers Pervez Hussain Kachroo, District & Sessions Judge Malik Shabir Ahmed, Sub-Judge at High Court Complex, Srinagar.
They imparted training to the Judicial Officers of District Srinagar, Officers of High Court Registry Srinagar Wing, Officers of the Tribunals located at Srinagar and Parvaiz Iqbal, Munsiff and Umesh Sharma, Munsiff . They imparted training to Officer of the Jammu District, Officer of High Court Registry Jammu Wing, and Officer of the Tribunals located at Jammu held at J&K State Judicial Academy, Janipur Jammu.
Khalil Choudhary, Central Project Co-ordinator (e-Courts), High Court of J&K harmonized these "Awareness cum Training Programs" for the Judicial Officers of the State. While speaking, he said that UBUNTU is a computer operating system based on the Debian Linux distribution and distributed as free and open source software, using its own desktop environment. It is named after the South African philosophy of UBUNTU, which can be translated as "humanity towards others" or "the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity.
According to Choudhary, the key purpose of the Training Program is to aware the Judicial Officers on the use of Ubuntu Operating System and other applications which are open source and can be easily installed. This Operating System has low virus threat, very stable, secure and having an enormous free software library. If we have a look at the speed, Ubuntu Operating System loads quickly on any computer. With the absence of unnecessary programs and trial software turning down the speed, booting up the machine and opening a program/application say "web browser" takes less time. One strong feature is that Ubuntu Operating System does not get slow after the passage of some time. It's fast and it stays fast. Application like GeSpeaker used for converting text to speech, stardict for talking dictionary, Xournal is a PDF application that is used to edit documents saved in PDF format etc. Such programs will enhance the confidence of Judicial Officers in making use of ICT tools.
He further stated that there are 60 Judicial officers in today training program. who shall benefited from this training Program. Choudhary further expressed that such programs will enhance the confidence of Judicial officers in making use of Information Communication Technology tools and will help them in making Speedy Justice delivery System.
Pawan Dev Kotwal, Director J&K State Judicial Academy, Yahya Firdous, Sub-Judge and Jagdish Thakur (Faculty Member) were also present during training session at State Judicial Academy Janipur Jammu.
e-Court Technical Staff namely Uzair Nazir (Sr. System Officer) , Shahnawaz Wani, (System Officer) , were present at High Court Complex Srinagar and Mohd Shadab Khan, Naresh Kumar Bhagat, were also present at State Judicial Academy Janipur Jammu and they extended all the technical support in making the program successful.
