Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan19: The state vigilance commission (SVC), while taking a serious note of the alleged bunglings and other malpractices committed by the officials of CAPD department in distribution of ration amongst the inhabitants of Goliote, a far-flung area of Udhampur, has sought a detailed factual report from the Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, in this regard. Earlier, a complaint was lodged with SVC by Rattan Singh of Goliote in connection with the gross irregularities allegedly committed by the CAPD officials at Goliote. SVC has obtained a report from the additional DC (District Vigilance Officer), Udhampur, in this regard. Aggrieved by the inappropriate delay caused by the authorities concerned to look into the matter, Rattan Singh personally appeared before the commission along with the relevant record as well as ration cards of the villagers concerned, prima-facie revealing that huge bunglings in the distribution of ration and misappropriation of carriage charges had allegedly been committed from April 2012 to July 2014 by sarpanch Surjeet Singh and his brother Balbir Singh with the active support of TSO, Pancharie. He also pleaded that ration was being distributed from a place which is about 15 km away from Goliote besides, the free ration for six months as sanctioned by the government in favour of flood affected sufferers was never provided and that the enquiry conducted earlier into the matter by the additional DC, Udhampur, was not properly carried out. The SVC, after considering the submission made by the complainant and gravity of the allegations levelled, directed the Udhampur DC to constitute a team of officers to conduct an in-depth inquiry de novo. The DC was also directed to submit a detailed report before the commission within one month. (JNF) |
