Counter claims on admissions to MBBS course | SC rules admission of both candidates | | Abodh Sharma Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 19: The Supreme Court of India has come to the rescue of two female students desirous of pursuing MBBS degree from the Government Medical College Jammu who had entered into a litigation challenging the selection. Over ruling the judgement of the State High Court wherein it had ruled that appellant Rohi Ramzan be admitted in the MBBS course in place of respondent Rifat Parveen, The Apex court directed the authorities to consider both the aspirants for admission in the MBBS course. As per the details available with ET, Rohi Ramzan, who was selected in BDS course had gone to the court seeking her admission in the MBBS in place of Rifat Parveen sighting several grounds. Taking cognizance of her appeal, the High Court had ruled in favour of the appellant, directing the authorities to grant admission to Rohi Ramzan in the MBBS course and shift respondent Rifat Parveen to BDS course. Consequent upon the direction of the State High Court, A special leave petition was filed by Rifat Parveen, who had been attending regular classes in the MBBS course for the last three months, seeking to continue in the same course. The Apex Court of Justice Dipak Misra and Justice N.V. Ramana in its order ruled, "As an interim measure, it is directed that Rohi Ramzan, to be admitted to Medical College, Jammu for undergoing MBBS course and the petitioner, Rifat Parveen ,be allowed to continue in the same college in the MBBS course. It is also directed that the High Court shall not proceed with further hearing of LPA Nos. 271 & 273 of 2015 and OWP No. 1454 of 2015 and any other matter relating to the admission of the petitioner (Rifat Parveen) and the 5th respondent (Rohi Ramzan) ". The State authorities have been asked to file objections if any against the order by the 15th of February, 2016. |
