Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 19: Two persons are believed to have died after a Dabaang Police officer, Vinod Kundal, who is under transfer, on Tuesdaychased their vehicle on Srinagar-Jammu highway.
Sources said that a Police inspector went after an Innova Car (No. PB09J/0947) which was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu as the car didn't stop during a naka checking at Shaan Palace Ramban.
"While police was chasing the car carrying four persons it hit a wall near Karol area due to impact of the accident doors of the car were opened and two out of four persons fell into river Chenab," sources added.
Police claimed that they have arrested the two persons and have recovered 52 packets of Poppy Straw from their possession, the whereabouts of other two were not known when this report was filed. It is presumed that they have lost their lives as the search operation was in progress till late hours.
The duo arrested by Police was identified as Manjeet son of Jeelaram and Amanjot son Thomas, residents of Lathribard Jalandar.
Meanwhile, SSP Ramban Randeep Singh when contacted said that search for the duo is in progress.
Sources said that the Inspector who chased the duo is under transfer as he is believed to be a "mercurial man," he could have easily got the Innova car stopped at the next naka but due to his Dabaang nature he gave a hot chase leading to the presumed death of two accused.
Sources said that transfer order of the Police Officer, Vinod Kundal, who is SHO Ramban at present, was issued one and a half month ago and he was sent to Government Railway Police Force but he refused to quit his place of posting. Before being posted as SHO Ramban he was transferred to State Vigilance Organization (SVO) but somehow he managed to get himself posted as SHO Ramban.
