Mendhar, Jan 19: Following allegations that National Building Construction Company (NBCC) had used sub-standard material in the construction of Degree College here a decade ago, Crime Branch of state police has lifted the samples for investigation. NBCC was assigned the job to constrict Government Degree College, Mendhar, about 10 years back. The building developed cracks and leakages through walls and ceiling within no time after its construction, according to official sources. The building was constructed during the time of Principal, Prof Shabir Hussain. Due to the leakage of ceiling during rains, essential equipments had got damaged, sources alleged. Meanwhile on the direction of CB SSP, a team, headed by Inspector Mustaq Ahmed, had been constituted to carry out thorough investigation into the construction of college building by NBCC. A team of experts including Assistant Executive Engineer, PWD, Poonch, Mohammad Khalid and Naib-Tehsildar, Sabzian, have lifted the samples of the material used in the college building for further investigations. When contacted, present principal of GDC, Mendhar Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi told Early Times that an FIR should be lodged against the NBCC and culprits should be booked as per law. It was a very serious matter, he added. |
