Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 19: Dispelling rumors about the alliance between Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Congress, BJP the former ally in Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led coalition government to Tuesday claimed that the meeting between Sonia Gandhi and Mehbooba Mufti was 'apolitical'. BJP that witnessed sleepless nights following impasse in government formation after the death of former Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed, hoped that there would be a stable government based on agenda of alliance in the state soon. "One cannot jump to the conclusion and there is nothing to make an issue out of Sonia Gandhi and Mehbooba Mufti's meeting, Sonia Gandhi met Mehbooba Mufti to console the death of her father Mufti Mohammad Syaeed," BJP State President, Sat Sharma told reporters on the sidelines of a party function here at SKICC. He said that there was mourning at Mufti's residence and the visit of political leaders was not political but personal aimed at expressing solidarity with the bereaved family. Replying to a query about National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah's recent statement in which he had asserted that his party could think to shake hands with BJP, he said "I don't have any information nor we have approached NC about this issue, people are free to express their views" Praising Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s towering political personality Sharma said Mufti was not only the leader of Jammu and Kashmir but his name is being counted among the tallest ones in India. Replying to another query about the overt opposition of the coalition between PDP and BJP by some senior leaders of PDP he said "I don't know where and when they have said this, I came to know only through newspapers and news channels and commenting on this issue at this stage would be premature" "Mufti Sayeed was the leader of the nation; we lost a real pearl in shape of Mufti. The death of Mufti left a huge void in our lives. It was the dream of Modi and Mufti that peace must prevail in Jammu and Kashmir," he added. He said that Jammu and Kashmir has never witnessed such a progress in terms of development the way PDP and BJP coalition government delivered here after 1947. "Government will be formed soon as both the parties are seriously pondering over the issue, a stable government will come soon and the pace of development will be sustained," Sharma said. |
