Kashmiri Pandit Martyrs Memorial to be built in the Valley | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 19: On the 26th anniversary of exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley, All Parties Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) today announced a grand memorial to be set up for the community members killed by militants since eruption of turmoil in the state. "APMCC has decided to pay tributes to all the martyrs of minority community of Jammu and Kashmir in a unique way by constructing a grand Kashmiri Pandit Martyrs Memorial on the pattern of war memorial to honour their sacrifices for the community," chairman of the organisation Vinod Pandit said in a statement. As the Kashmiri Pandits observed the 26th anniversary of exodus from their homes in the Valley, a team of APMCC today visited Nadimarg area in Pulwama district where 24 members of the community were shot dead by militants on March 23, 2003. Pandit said all the Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus killed including those at Wandhama, Sangram Pora, Chattisinghpora, Pran Kot area of Udhampur district and Kalu Chak in Jammu -- will be remembered through this memorial with their names engraved on the plaques of the memorial |
