Non availability of electric poles triggers protest 1/20/2016 12:44:01 AM Early Times Report Banihal,Jan 19 : Locals of Upper Tantary pora of Banihal in Ramban district today staged a protest on highway against the Power Development Department (PDD) for non availability electric poles in the area which is affecting the power supply in the area. According to reports, the traffic on Jammu Srinagar highway remained affected for over half an hour on both sides due to the protest. The agitated villagers alleged that after the so many hardships they got succeed to sanction of an electric transformer of 63 KV for their village through local MLA from his CDF but unfortunately the PDD department despite repeated requests have failed to provide electric poles for the installation of transformer in the village and the newly sanctioned electric transformer is still lying on ground. Led by local Sarpanch,Panch and other villagers they shouted slogans against the PDD department and demanded the immediate sanction of electric poles in the village. Meanwhile Tehsildar Banihal and SDPO Banihal alongwith Police team rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protesters. They assured the villagers that their problem will be redressed soon on priority basis and after the assurance from them, the villagers lifted their protest and allowed the traffic to move on highway.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
