Nowshera people held demonstration against private transporters | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Jan 19 : Students from border villages held a mass protest demonstration at Nowshera on late Monday afternoon against private transport players for plying few buses during peak hours on various link routes resulting into overloading and making passengers vulnerable to fatal accident. Agitated students alongwith locals amid slogans against the private transporters running minibuses on various peripheral routes alleged that the private transporters under a planned strategy ply only few buses to make easy money. Students including girls alleged that Babu Ram, Nowshera in-charge Jammu-Poonch Bus Union and other concerned deliberately avoid more passenger buses on these routes during peak morning and evening hours just to make easy money by overloading the desperate passengers who want to reach to their destinations at any cost. "Locals and students from these areas are suffering in the absence of adequate passenger vehicles, a protestor alleged. Another protestor added that over loading not only is resulting in spurt of eve teasing cases but also resulting proving a boon to pick pockets." Later a deputation of protestors met with the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nowshera and presented a memorandum of their problems and demanded immediate solution. After paying patient hearing to the deputation, the SDM assured the students to take the matter with Transporters to seek its redressal. |
