Two Heroin peddlers held alongwith consignment | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 19 : Continuing its drive against drug and narcotics peddlers, the Gangyal police today claimed to have arrested two narcotic smugglers besides recovering the consignment of contraband from their possession. Police said, "The accused have been identified namely as Rumim Ahmed s/o Bashir Ahmed r/o Malik Market and Altaf Hussain s/ o Anwar Hussain r/o Bithndi." "The arrest was made by SHO Gangyal Inspector Aijaz Wani under the supervision of SP South Shehzad Slaria and Uttam Chand, SSP Jammu, police said. As per police, on a specific information the police laid a naka at Kunjwani Chowk here today. "During naka checking a white alto car bearing no JK06/6334 was given halt signal but the driver of the vehicle instead of halting the vehicle sped up towards Satwari. "The Police gave a hot chase to vehicle and it was intercepted at Gangyal Chowk by police and two youths were put to questioning, police said. Police said, "During their personal frisking police recovered 08 gms of Heroin from possession of Rumim Ahmed and 2.5 gms of Heroin from Altaf Hussain s/ o Anwar Hussain r/o Bithndi. The duo was arrested on the spot and was booked under section 8/ 20 NDPS Act During preliminary investigations it comes to fore that Rumim Malik is a habitual smuggler and keeps on changing his hideouts inside and outside state and used to bring consignments from Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. A police officer sharing information on anonymity said that the accused duo has brought the consignment from Damtaal area of Himachal Pardesh and were planning to sell the contraband to the youths of Bathindi ,Sunjwaan and Sanik Colony area. "Their questioning was on and more recoveries are likely to be effected, he added. |
