He had joined J&K police as an ASI in 2001 and was promoted to the rank of SI in 2009. He was said to be very thick with a senior J&K police officer who had proceeded on central deputation in 2011. Soon after he joined in New Delhi, he also called his 'blue-eyed' SI on deputation to his department, police sources said. While he served in New Delhi, the department in 2014 advertised some vacant posts of his rank. At the instance of the senior officer, he also applied for it and got selected. The senior officer played a vital role in his selection, the sources added. Sources said before he applied for the post, the senior officer had also helped him to obtain the no-objection certificate from the J&K police. His selection process was completed in the central department in December last year, sources informed. His resignation letter had been accepted by J&K police, sources said.
