'Not authorised to speak on Govt formation': Koul | High command gags local BJP leaders | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 2: Under-criticism BJP high command has directed the J&K BJP leaders to not speak on Government formation. Even J&K BJP president Sat Sharma and general secretary (organization) Ashok Koul can't speak on the issue that has become talk of the town. The revelation to this effect was made by none other than Ashok Koul on Tuesday at Bandipora, Kashmir. Speaking on the prospects of Government formation in the State, Ashok Koul said that he was not authorised to talk about it. "Party has authorised Ram Madav and Party legislature leader Nirmal Singh to hold parleys with PDP to end the deadlock over Government formation," he said. What Koul said was very significant. It suggested many things. It suggested that all was not well with the PDP-BJP coalition. It also suggested that the PDP and BJP still have to resolve many issues or iron out the differences between them. But more than that, what Koul said suggested that the high command doesn't want the State BJP leadership to further add to the prevailing confusion over the issue of Government formation in J&K. The high command's direction could be viewed in the light of the fact that many local BJP leaders had made contradictory statements. While J&K BJP State vice-president and in-charge of Kashmir Ramesh Arora had said that the "BJP would insist on rotational Chief Ministership in case the PDP set new condition for the Government formation", Sat Sharma had contradicted Arora the same day, saying that the "BJP is prepared to even go beyond the agenda of alliance" to save the coalition. Similarly, J&K BJP spokespersons had made certain statements which had embarrassed the Prime Minister and the high command, as all these statements had suggested that the BJP was prepared to dump the ideology of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee to re-stitch alliance with the PDP. One of the spokespersons had even gone to the extent of saying that the PDP's vision was the BJP's vision and the BJP was committed to giving an effect to that vision. Since it was the BJP general secretary organization who revealed that the high command had directed the local BJP leaders to not speak on the issue, it would be interesting to know what Ram Madhav and Nirmal Singh say. Whatever they would say would be the official version and the rest would be nothing but kite-flying. |
