Protesting KGBV-TF president attempts self-immolation bid 3/2/2016 11:44:34 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 2: in a bid to intensify their stir, the President Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalya Teachers' Forum (KGBV-TF) Myooma Khan today attempted self-immolation bid here today in Jammu. The bid was however foiled by the timely intervention of the local police deployed near the protest venue but Khan, along with other KGBV teachers sustained some burn injuries and later were hospitalized. At around 3 pm, Director School Education Jammu, Smitha Sethi visited the agitating KGBV teachers at the protest venue, Exhibition Ground Jammu. During her (Smitha Sethi's) visit, the teachers questioned about dilly-dallying tactics of the government regarding their regularization and tried to stop her vehicle. Agitated over the non satisfactory reply from Director School Education Jammu, the President of the forum Ms Khan doused self with inflammable fluid and set her ablaze but timely intervention of the police her immolation bid was foiled "We have appealed everyone at the helm of affairs in the Education Department regarding our regularization but all attempts turned to be futile. So I decided to take this extreme step", injured Myooma Khan told media persons after her self-immolation bid was foiled. The police team immediately shifted Mymoona along with other teachers to Govt medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu for necessary medical help.
