Locals, laborers protest against pending dues from Irrigation Deptt since 2 yrs 6/18/2016 11:01:28 PM Early Times Report Udhampur, June 18: Labourers and public hailing from villages including Lower Basnote, Dubbi Gali, Damnote, Galiote, Badhota and Nali Nikka today held a protest demonstration at Lower Basnote in Khadandra Valley (Panchari ) of district Udhampur against irrigation department which are lying pending for the last over two years . Raising slogans against Irrigation Department, the protestors alleged that the concerned department has been creating undue delay in making payments of repair work carried out directly by the said department during the year 2015-16. Moreover, protestors said that construction work of 'khool- (water channel) 'was proposed to be constructed upto Nali Nikka, but the concerned department has abruptly abandoned the construction work half -way at the centre of arable land in village Dubbi Gali and is thus causing erosion of fertile soil and valuable land. Locals also alleged that the repair work executed under the direct supervision of deptt officials is still incomplete and certain essential base walls got damaged are yet to be constructed. Speaking on the occasion protestors, highlighted their demands including release of pending payments, construction of damaged base walls and construction of 'kool 'upto its destination i.e., Nali Nikka, are not fulfilled without further delay. They said that despite repeated requests to the concerned department authorities the authorities have failed to redress the grievances of the people and also had failed to released the payment to the poor labourers for the repair work done during the 2(two )consecutive years.
