Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 18: Hand of a former senior bureaucrat has surfaced behind the controversy surrounding the interview of an ineligible candidate for his appointment as PRO in Central University of Jammu (CUJ) .
Sources disclosed that the reason behind eagerness shown by CUJ in accepting otherwise candidature of Rajan Badyal, who is working as PRO in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Kakryal Katra, to appear for the interview was to keep the former senior bureaucrat in good humour.
"The CUJ administration succumbed to the writ of the ex-bureaucrat, who has so much influence and clout in the state as he still manages to call the shots despite of the fact that he had to resign last year under controversial circumstances. Badyal was allowed to appear for the interview for the post of interview even as he was clearly not eligible; but the former bureaucrat's will prevailed over the set rules and guidelines," said sources.
"His pursuance paved way for allowing ineligible Badyal's appearance for the viva even he neither had routed his application through proper channel nor he had submitted NOC from his former employer. He also did not possess the requisite experience in the Editorial department/ Centre of any established Newspaper, National News Agency, Radio or Television or Film Media, as was required" sources added.
Sources further revealed that it is surprising that how Badyal's remote association with the media in the form of a news reader in a local TV channel and Doordarshan Kendra Jammu was considered enough experience in media.
"Except, Badyal other candidates who had less than five years' experience were not called for the interview," sources said.
"The ineligibility of Badyal has one more dimension in the shape of his lack of administrative experience as an RTI reply provided by SMVDU discloses that he became PRO in the SMVDU on March 4, 2015 and as such he had experience of only one year at the time of interview in the CUJ on March 30. Before that he was only an office assistant in the SMVDU," they added.
