Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 18: Allegations are being leveled against the Central University of Kashmir administration for tailoring norms to adjust a blue-eyed candidate for the post of Assistant Professor in a subject.
At the eleventh hour, the CUK had allegedly altered the norms, by increasing the ratio of shortlisted candidates called for interviews from ratio of 1:10 to 1:20.
Sources informed Early Times that the interviews for the various faculty posts have been going on in Central University of Kashmir (CUK) and for the faculty posts in department of Politics and Governance, interviews were scheduled to be held on June 19.
The first list of shortlisted candidates was uploaded on the website of CUK on 13th of June, according to which the ratio of shortlisted candidates was 1:10, which means ten candidates for one faculty post.
"A close relative of an official of CUK was not figured in the shortlist due to the ratio criteria of 1:10, following which a list of with ratio of 1:15 was prepared by University and on the June 17th, at around 4 PM, a list was uploaded on the website of CUK, short listing the candidates as per ratio of 1:20", sources alleged.
They further alleged that after allowing candidates in ratio of 1:20, the relative of the official of University, who has been holding a pivotal post in faculty, managed to get shortlisted.
Sources further alleged that the whole drama was orchestrated by the varsity authorities to adjust the close relative of an official and even the higher officials of the varsity were unaware of the conspiracy hatched by some of the officials of the varsity.
"Recruitment for other posts has also been going on and the ratio of shortlisted candidates was 1:10 and there is not a single case when number of shortlisted candidates was increased but it is a unique case as some officials have taken the whole recruitment process hostage to their whims and fancies", sources alleged, adding that it was also very unfortunate for those outstation candidates, whose name figured in the new shortlists.
Registrar of the CUK, Mohammad Afzal Zargar said that though he was outside the state due to some official work and as per his knowledge, the decision was taken by the varsity, after representations were made by the candidates.
"In this subject, we had highest number of applications and after the shortlisting was done on basis of 1:10 ratio, some candidates submitted representations, following which probably the decision to give high representation would have been taken by the varsity", he said.
On the allegations of conspiracy to adjust a blue eyed candidate of an official, he termed them totally false and said that it was done only to give higher representation and in the days to come, if there would be representation from the candidates to increase the ratio, the varsity could think over it.
