Sacrilegious acts part of 'bigger conspiracy' | | | Early Times Report srinagar, June 18: A drug addict, a mentally challenged person and a drunkard entering the religious places in Jammu and Udhampur areas and indulging in sacrilegious acts have created ripples across the state. Security agencies believe that this can be a tactic to divert the attention of the forces operating in Jammu and Kashmir. "It seems a big conspiracy is being hatched to divert the attention of the security forces from the anti-militancy operations so that they (militants) get a breathing space. One cannot rule out the possibility about the involvement of the people sitting across the Line of Control behind the sacrilegious acts," said a source. He said, "There are reports that militants in JK are under tremendous pressure to make their presence felt by carrying out the attacks at different places but the security forces have tightened their noose around them and they are not letting them succeed in their nefarious designs." A police official said, "The Ministry of Home Affairs has already issued an advisory about Jammu being on the radar of militants. We are taking all the possible steps to ensure that militants don't sneak into Jammu region and they are kept at bay." He said, "Two suspects who were arrested in connection with Nanak Nagar desecration act are being questioned and their connections are being verified. It's too early to comment about who is behind all these sacrilegious acts but one thing is for sure that it's a pre-planned move aimed at either providing a chance to militants to carry out attacks or destabilize the PDP-BJP government." A source said, "Militant handlers sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) have realized that it won't be easy for militants to carry out any strikes in Jammu or Srinagar as security forces are after them. There is a possibility about these militant handlers having changed their tactics. It seems they want to trigger communal frenzy in Jammu and Kashmir by pitting people from different religions against each other." He said, "Desecration of religious places in Jammu and Udhampur could be a precursor about the intentions of hate mongers to vitiate the atmosphere ahead of the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra which would commence from July 2." "Pakistan, anti-national elements and militants would not like this (Amarnath) yatra to go on smoothly. They will definitely try to create disturbances but we are prepared and have taken all the aspects into consideration. The army and other security agencies have be put on high alert," the source added. He said the elements behind the desecration of religious places in Jammu city and Udhampur may try to vitiate the atmosphere. "Such incidents could happen in future as well," the source added. |
