Anantnag, June 18: Striking an emotional cord, the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday told Anantnag residents that the votes polled in her favor will add feathers to her crown.
"I am not here seeking votes for Chief Ministership but if this election is matter of my dignity. Your votes will add another feathers to my crown," Mehbooba said while addressing a road side gathering in Kamad village of the assembly segment.
Speaking at an impressive rally, the chief minister reassured people that all those projects and developmental works will be completed in stipulated time that her late father Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed had started during his ten months long tenure.
"I understand all the problems you face. Development of not only Anantnag but of whole state is our sole agenda," she said. Referring to the problems of people, Mehbooba amid big applauds said that her government will purchase additional quota of rice to ensure 10Kgs per head per month.
Pertinently, implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) had at the same time created uproar in Jammu Kashmir legislative assembly where a discussion of the Act was going on.
Mehbooba Mufti, who is seeking re-election from Anantnag to continue as Chief Minister of the state, said that she can't guarantee government jobs to all the people, however will work to strength the private sector for employment generation.
"My father dreamt of a vibrant tourism sector, we are working on it. We will make sure the tourism sector flourishes and provides countless job opportunities for your youngsters," she added.
Later Chief Minister Mehbooba along with Party General secretary Mohd Sartaj Madni and others visited several areas of the Anantnag and addressed roadside gatherings.
This was her second road show in the constituency after poll dates were announced by Election Commission of India.
Assembly segment had felt vacant after the demise of Mufti Mohd Sayeed this on January 7 and is now going to polls on 22nd of this month. According to ECI notification, Counting will be held on 25th of June.
