Jammu, June 18: Resenting over government's ban on private practice, senior medicos demanded salary at par with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to eradicate private practice. Without knowing ground realties, the government is passing its dictates on medical fraternity. "Those, who passes un-justified dictates on us should know the ground realities", why practices of Head of Departments (HoDs) in Government Medical Colleges and Government Dental Colleges and the Associated Hospitals is being banned. "You should ban the practice of entire faculty members of various departments in GMCs and GDCs of state", said a doctor, a HoD in GMC Jammu. He further said that the doctors in J&K are getting meager salaries as compared to other states. "Unfortunately, nobody talks about the conditions doctors, in which they are working", the doctor said. He further said that there are several doctors (HoDs) who willingly disowned private practice. "There is no need to teach, we have sufficient knowledge about our social responsibility", said a doctor and added that why most of seniors (specialists) are working outside the state. "You have no respect for the talent in state, you don't pay us a respectable salary as compare with other states", the doctor said, regretting government attitude towards medicos. "There are no proper operation theatres for surgeries, we lack equipment, but nobody talk about it. To earn publicity, time and again practice of doctors is being targeted, there are few department, from where the doctors can do practices", he added. According to circular the Government shall be ensuring strict monitoring of the compliance of this government order and in this regard. "If any doctor concerned, as per the ibid Government Order, is found indulging in private practice, strict disciplinary action shall be taken against the concerned," the circular adds. |
