After sacrilegious acts, Geelani hits hornet's nest; tries to keep the pot boiling
Says, VDCs can be used to carry out genocide of particular community

Early Times Report
Jammu, June 18: Two days after three sacrilegious acts at religious places in Jammu and Udhampur regions, the Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani tried to stoke yet another controversy to appease his bosses sitting across the Line of Control and to keep the pot boiling.
Geelani on Saturday tried to pit members of two communities against each other by claiming that Village Defence Committees are the creation of Indian agencies which have been tasked to keep a'vigil' on the members of a particular community in Jammu region. ''If the need arise they (VDCs) can also be used to carry out the genocide of a particular community in the Jammu region," he said in a statement
Geelani's statement came day after the state government made it clear that there is no plan to disband the VDCs in the state.
The 'communal' statement of the Geelani comes two days after the Jammu was at the verge of the communal flare up after a miscreant ransacked a religious place in Jammu city and tried setting the entire Jammu region on the fire.
Geelani has never been able to project himself as a leader in the Jammu region but the his politics is part of the "Greater Kashmir" concept which has strong sub-plans of the dividing the people of the Jammu region on the religious lines.
The supposedly 'mentally insane" person who indulged sacrilegious act hails from Doda region and it is in this region that the separatists are trying hard to make inroads but their desperate attempts have failed to divide the communities.
The game plan had worked in the initial days of the militancy but it was finally foiled by the heroic deeds of the VDCs. Geelani knows that VDCs have succeeded in foiling the attempts of concept of "Greater Kashmir."
Separatists like Geelani aided by militants failed in their first plan to orchestrate exodus of a members of a particular community from hilly areas of the Jammu region. The second part of the plan is to create a divide between the communities and the VDCs are the primary target.
"It's implied in the statement of the Geelani that he is hitting out at the members of a particular community and is trying to divide the society. We need to be cautious. It seems his bosses have asked him to polarize Jammu region so that communal clashes disturb the peace," said an analyst.
