Revenue deptt holds lion's share of graft cases

Srinagar, June 18: Among all government departments functioning in Jammu and Kashmir, Revenue department leads in Corruption related activities as vigilance Organization registered most '44' cases since 2011 till date against officials of different rank of Revenue Department.
Official data accessed by early times reveal that out of total 44, most of the cases registered against Revenue employees from one Patwari to an official of the rank of ACR in various Districts of Kashmir are either under investigation or produced in respective Courts for Challan.
During Current Year,2016,VOK so far registered 4 cases of different nature which includes FIR no 10/2016-VOK dated 1.4.2016 in one case of conferring illegal undue benefit to beneficiary against Sheikh Ajaz Iqbal, then DC Srinagar, Sheikh Muneer Akhtar, then Tehsildar, Ghulam Nabi Bakal then Girdawar, Sheikh Showkat Hussain, then Patwari & others in District Srinagar.
Another FIR no 8/2016-VOK dated 8.3.2016, a case of loss to state exchequer by way of double payment of land was registered against officers /officials of revenue department.
In another FIR no 6/2016-VOK,dated 3.2.2016, misuse of official position was registered against one Atiqullah Shah of Kulgam and other officials of Revenue Department in famous land grab case of former Congress Minister,Taj Mohi-ud-Din.
One FIR no 2/2016-VOK, dated 19.1.2016,a case of demand and acceptance of bribe RS.2,000/ was registered against Showket Ahmad Sofi, Patwari Halqa Natipora Srinagar and Abdul Rashid Dar,Orderly. FIR no 1/2016-VOK, dated 14.1.2016,again a cases of bribery was registered against Abdul Rashid Dar, Patwari Halqa Sagam Kokernag In 2015, VOK registered 6 cases of different nature which include, FIR number 31/2015, dated 5/06/2015,a case of Illegal Transfer of land under Roshni scheme against then Additional deputy commissioner Anantnag, Abdul Rasheed Dar and Syed Altaf Hussain, Tehsildar Anantnag, Ghulam Mohi-ud-din- Rather,then Assistant commissioner revenue Ananatnag, Altaf Hussain Mistri, Nayeb Tehsildar Anantnag, Abdul Majeed Wani, Girdawar , Anantnat and Syed Ghulam Geelani, Patwari of Khanabal.
In Kakapora Pulwama, a case of illegal transfer of land under FIR number 30/2015-VOK dated 5/06/2015 was registered against one Abdul Hameed Mir, Then Tehsildar Chadoora, Muhammad Hussain Mir, Tehsildar Pulwama, Muhammad Maqbool Ahanagar, Nayab Tehsildar Kakapora,Ghulam Ahmad Sheikh, Girdwar Kakapora, Abdul Razaq Wagay, Patwari of Kakapora.
Another case of illegal transfer of land under FIR number 29/2015-VOK dated 5/06/2015 was register against Mushtaq Ahmad Beg, then SDM Uri,Abdul Rasheed Tantray, then Clerk in SDM Office Uri. Three other cases under FIR numbers 28/2015-VOK dated 24/04/2015, 26/2015-VOK dated 22/04/2015 and FIR number 02/2015-VOK dated 16/01/2015 were also registered in Srinagar and Bandipora against officials of revenue.
In 2014 VOK registered 11 cases of different nature at Shopian, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Kulgam under FIR Numbers 43/2014-VOK dated 16.12.2014,34/2014-VOK dated 27/08/2014,32/2014-VOK dated 06/08/2014,27/2014-VOK dated 25/06/2014,24/2014-VOK dated 17/06/2014,19/2014-VOK dated 29.05.2014,18/2014-VOK dated 29.05.2014,17/2014-VOK dated 29.05.2014, 14/2014-VOK dated 07/05/2014,13/2014-VOK dated 24/04/2014 and 9/2014-VOK dated 03/04/2014.
In 2013, 4 cases were registered in Chadoora, Srinagar, Bandipora and Budgam under FIR numbers 19/2013-VOK dated 08/10/2013,17/2013-VOK dated 25/07/2013,10/2013-VOK dated 12/06/2013 and 7/2013-VOK dated 3/04/2013.
In 2012 VOK Registered total 13 cases of different nature at different places includes Bandipora, Srinagar, Pulwama under FIR numbers 25/2012-VOK dated 17/09/2012,20/2012-VOK dated 27/08/2012,13/2012-VOK dated 28/06/2012, 12/2012-VOK dated 8/06/2012,11/2012-VOK dated 10/5/2012,07/2012-vok dated 27/03/2012, 06/2012-VOK dated 20/03/2012, 03/2012-VOK dated 09/02/2012 and one case of taking bribe under FIR number 02/2012-VOK dated 06/02/2012.
Similarly in 2011it Registered 6 cases and produced challanes in the respective courts which includes case FIR no 20/2011,dated 16/11/2011, FIR 19/2011, dated 12/11/2011,FIR no 14/2011,dated 11/08/2011,FIR no 11/2011, dated 24/6/2011,FIR no 10/2011,dated 11/6/2011 and FIR no 4/2011,dated 01/04/2011.
In its drive against corruption state government last year terminated 63 employees of different rank which includes some officials of the KAS rank as well and has already indicted to terminate more corrupt official in near future.
