Raj Babar opposes separate townships for KPs | Accuses BJP of playing communal card | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report
Anantnag, June 18: Accusing Bhartiya Janta Party of dividing state on communal lines, actor turned politician and Member Parliament Raj Babar on Saturday opposed proposal of establishing separate townships for displaced Kashmiri pandits. "I want to ask a question why separate townships for Kashmiris pandits. They belong to this country as much as others so Congress believes that atmosphere here should be made so conducive that Kashmiri pandits and Muslims come to live open heartedly as they used to," Congress parliamentarian Raj Babar told Early Times at Khanabal. He accused Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) of playing communal card in the state by separating regions of the state on religious lines. "Since this government took over in the state people, regions are being divided. You can't separate Hindus from Muslims in Kashmir as this hasn't been the history of Kashmir," he said responding to questions of rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits. Raj Babar advised central and state government to look Kashmiris purely as Kashmiris instead of dividing them communal rights. On the spurt of militancy related activities and new wave of militancy in Kashmir, Babar blamed government. "Many policies are wrong. Our youngsters feel their rights have been snatched from them. This is the aspect which needs to look into seriously," he added. Commenting over the Anantnag By-polls for which he addressed several election rallies, Babar expressed satisfaction over public support for congress candidate Hilal Ahmad Shah. "PDP-BJP government failed to even rehabilitate the flood sufferers, your Chief Minister will continue as head of the state because of RSS support but if you vote our candidate he will with you to address yours issues," he said while addressing a gathering in Mir-Danter area of the Anantnag assembly segment. |
