No takers of Hurriyat's proposed parleys with Pandits
6/18/2016 11:02:18 PM
Early Times Report

jammu, June 18: Opposing return to their native places rather than separate townships, there are no takers among the Kashmiri Pandits to hold talks with separatist Hurriyat leaders including Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and JKLF chief Yasin Malik.
The majority of KP organizations are totally opposed to return to their native places in Valley in view of the growing separatist movement and ongoing terrorist violence in Kashmir and they apprehend worst in case such a formula is given practical shape. Under these circumstances no saner element among the Kashmiri migrants will be ready to return to their native places is the general opinion among the displaced Pandits leading an exiled life for last 27 years now outside the Valley. Though Hurriyat leader Moulvi Umer Farooq has shown his willingness of holding talks with Kashmiri Pandits on their return to Valley, no major organization of Pandits will show their willingness to hold parlays with separatist leaders as desired by Moulvi provided the separatists support separate township for Pandits within Valley. The Kashmiri Pandits while fully backing their settlement in a separate township said at such a place they can feel some sort of security which is not possible at their native places in view of the prevailing circumstances in Kashmir. Even the majority of Kashmiri Pandits have serious reservations of holding talks with JKLF chief Yasin Malik whom they consider the brain behind the present turmoil and forced exodus of Pandits from Valley after his organization started selective killings in Valley making minority Hindus the main target. Malik created terror in Valley during early nineties after killing three IAF officers in Air Port area of Budgam district of Kashmir Valley which was later followed by killing of hundreds members of minority Hindu community both Kashmiri Pandits as well as outsider Hindus, said Kundan Kashmiri president KPC. So there is a growing opinion among the displaced Pandits that they can't hold parleys with a separatist leader who is the main hand behind the mass exodus of minority Pandits from Valley and making any trust on such leaders will be axing ones own feet, he added. The majority of Pandit organizations have already rejected such a move with Panun Kashmir fully behind its demand of separate homeland within Valley and ASKPC, KPC, AIKS, KSD as well as other organizations of Pandits for their settlement at a single place, it seems there are no takers to move of Hurriyat leadership unless and until they support the demand of Pandits.
Moreover majority of Pandits while justifying their demand of settlement at a single township in Valley said that when Muslims can create a separate Gujjar Nagar in Jammu or settle in a separate colony at Sidhrah, Bhatindi and Chowadi why can't Kashmiri Pandits have a separate colony in Srinagar.
The Pandit organizations have also warned those fringe elements who are on their own going to meet the separatists on behalf of community and asked them refrain from talking to separatists on behalf of the community.
