Jammu, June 18: While Pakistan is making all attempts to push in a number of militants into the region of Jammu and Kashmir to disturb peace ahead of annual Amarnath Yatra and bypolls of Anantnag constituency, Army is geared up to foil cross border infiltration attempts besides ensuring that the terrorists "infiltrated" should not reach the valley and must be tackled in the hinterland. "At this juncture when the situation has turned volatile in Kashmir valley with sudden spurt in violence in the recent past, Pakistan will try to push in militants on this side to disturb the peace,'' reliable sources here told . They said that though, no fresh infiltration took place recently as Army is manning the border and maintaining vigil along the Line of Control (LoC) but reportedly, those who have come from across the fence and entered into the Jammu and Kashmir, would not be allowed to succeed in their plans. "Presently focus is on to stop infiltration and foil nefarious designs of anti-national elements operating in the region,'' sources said adding, "46-days long Amarnath Yatra is starting from July 2 and Anantnag by polls are to be held on June 22, so in circumstances, we can't afford these elements to reach to the hinterland and execute their strategies of targeting the civilians.'' Sources however, said that, a well knitted 'line of attack' is being planned by the Army to counter insurgency, adding, "acting completely on specific inputs provided by various sources, Army counter the terrorists to extend security cover to the populace.'' Eliminating terrorists on the LoC is the priority for the Armed forces at the moment and there would be compromise on security part, sources added and also said that the Army has not yet handed over any of land in possession to the state government unless alternate land is provided. Meanwhile, Defence sources said that in the past four days, seven militants have been gunned down in separate operations in Kashmir valley, thus taking the toll to 53 so far, this year. |
