Mehbooba set to take over as 'caretaker' CM | PDP-BJP start final negotiations on 'interim plan' | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 31: Given the ailing health of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who is hospitalized at AIIMS, his daughter and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti is likely to replace him as the "caretaker" CM.
Highly placed sources said the leaders of the PDP and the BJP have agreed that the negotiations over "rotational CM" could be held later but the need of the hour was to immediately replace Mufti with Mehbooba as the former needs rest and medical attention while the Government work should not suffer.
The negotiations on the issue of "caretaker CM" have geared up as the doctors treating Mufti at AIIMS are understood to have conveyed to the Government that the CM would need rest for around a month and thus wouldn't be able to attend the Assembly session, which is scheduled to commence from January 18 in Jammu.
"Given the necessity to instantly replace the CM, the best way out to avoid any controversy over rotational CM of three years is that Mehbooba be taken as the caretaker CM," said a party insider.
He said this way options would remain open on future negotiat...

| | 2015: A year that saw Jammu attacking its own representatives | Betrayal, betrayal, betrayal | | Early Times Report
jammu, Dec 31: Things in Jammu region worsened with each passing day in 2015, despite the fact that it gave a decisive mandate to a party that it (wrongly) considered its true representatives. The party was the BJP, which sought and got votes in the name of Jammu and took no time in bartering its own constituency for a few loaves and fishes of office. In fact, it sealed the fate of Jammu even before joining the J&K Government for the time on March 1. It all happened due to the high command's changed ideology or changed stand on J&K and Pakistan as well as its desire to prove its "secular" credentials.
Hitherto, the BJP used to be a marginal but a very vocal outfit vocif...
| | Govt coaching for school children starts with wrong teaching | | | Early Times Report
srinagar, Dec 31: It was a wrong teaching by none other than the Education Department itself on the inauguration ceremony of the much-hyped Chief Minister's Super-50 Free Winter Tutorial, as the hosts here today brazenly misused scores of domestic LPG cylinders for heating to keep the VIPs warm and comfortable.
The inaugural function held at Government Girls High School, Hyderpora where 10th and 12th standard students will be provided free coaching, during the winters, found the VIPs including Education Minister Naeem Akhter being kept warm with gas bukharis run on domestic gas cylinders to defy biting cold.
As per norms, use of domestic gas for heating is an offence w...

jammu, Dec 31: The independent MLA with separatist leanings, Er Abdul Rashid Sheikh, who has developed a habit of poking his nose into everything, submitting a bill in the Legislative Assembly to seek discussion on changing the nomenclature of Governor and Chief Minister into Sadar-e-Riyasat and Wazir-e-Azam has drawn flak as critics believe that his only job is to "create confusion."
A critic while talking to Early Times said, "Rashid should worry about his constituency (Langate) rather than meddling into the affairs which don't fall in his domain. Someone should ask him has he ever sought a discussion in the Assembly over problems faced by the people living in fro...
