Hawala case confronts Yasin Malik after 16 years | ED summons Mushtaq Dar, his wife | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 2: The 16-year-old Hawala case has began to haunt the JKLF Chief Yasin Malik once again with his close aide and his wife being summoned by the Enforcement Directorate here over the issue.
Malik in his statement issued on Wednesday condemned the government action, saying the case is still before a court but despite this the "enforcement department is trying to intimidate and terrorize him and his family."
The story goes back to March 24, 2002 when Jammu Police recovered $100,000 (Rs 48 lakh) neatly stitched on to the salwar of a young Kashmiri woman at a check-post on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
It was reported at that time that Intelligence officials in Srinagar believed the consignment was part of the funds Malik had raised during his trip to the US in July-September last year. But the funds could not be channelled to Kashmir in the wake of 9/11.

Moreover, the involvement of some officials of GMC&H to give benefits to the private players in the purchase of oxygen could be ascertained from the fact that after lapse of nearly one of half year, there is no alternate arrangement for Compressor of the plant.

JAMMU, Nov 2: Overlooking the recommendations of the Vigilance Organization (VO) against Jammu University professor, Falendra Kumar Sudan for misusing official position, the Governor's Secretariat and General Administration Department (GAD) allegedly put the file under carpet.
According to information obtained through RTI, the VO recommended action against Prof Sudan, HoD Economics, on June 9 this year.
