5/11/2015 12:32:04 AM

Omar must learn from Mufti, go beyond tweets
How many people in Beerwah have access to twitter?
5/11/2015 12:31:54 AM
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 10: Former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has urged the incumbent Chief Minister to shun the chopper and take a ride on the Srinagar-Anantnag highway to see its condition. Well, the advice could be taken seriously had Omar also taken a ride on the bumpy highway to feel the pain of the people who travel on it daily. Moreover, it is the Omar led government that left the highway in that shape. The incumbent Chief Minister has other things to do besides setting the wrongs committed in Omar Abdullah's regime right. During national Conference regime especially during Farooq Abdullah's times, the state had its own plane besides a few helicopters. Farooq's obses...

Where will tourists stay? Sanu ki!
As tourism season begins in Valley, top mantris, babus occupy deluxe cottages at Chashma Shahi
5/11/2015 12:31:37 AM
Bashir Assad Early Times Report Srinagar, May 10: The picturesque Chashma Shahi, which should ideally house tourists and generate handsome revenue for the government, is presently occupied by government functionaries. The irony is that even ministers who are supposed to be available to the people to address their day-to-day problems are also camping in the plush Chashma Shahi cottages, completely inaccessible to the electorate. This is primarily because Chashma Shahi is a place where the common man cannot have easy access to a minister or senior bureaucrats. It is a restricted area maintained by the Tourism Development Corporation. During the Omar Abdullah government, many PDP l...

The much-talked Vision Document was released to the press in the middle of November 2014. The truth is that during the intense election campaigning, the BJP candidates, who were ably backed by central leaders, sought the Jammu's mandate on certain specific issues, which were actually catalogued in the Vision Document. These were: (1) "Give 30% per cent representation to women in Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council"; (2) "Issue Dogra Certificate to the eligible youth"; (3) Ensure that the ST commun...

Use their influence to derail investigations against them
5/11/2015 12:30:09 AM
Bharat Bhushan Early Times Report JAMMU, May 10: Bureaucrats in J&K have rarely been held accountable for their wrong deeds and it is extremely difficult to challenge them. Many of them indulge in corrupt practices and then go scot free. Their political bosses shield them because they too get wrong things done through them. This is the reason that some of the retired bureaucrats in J&K have been preferred to veteran party functionaries and made MLCs by their political bosses. After their mass exodus from the valley in 1989-1990, Kashmiri Hindus took refuge in several temples and under-construction government buildings here. 'Chandies' (ration cards) were then issued to them by the go...
