TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Success of AIIMS agitation 'slap' on BJP's face
'People's movement is bigger than any party'
8/7/2015 12:19:24 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 6: Jammu getting united to seek full-fledged AIIMS for the region has sent a strong message to all the political parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), that politicians cannot take people for granted by making hollow promises. The BJP leaders in Jammu region rode on Modi wave to bag 25 seats in 2014 Assembly elections with debutants mauling the stalwarts of Congress and other parties. Jammu people had reposed their faith in BJP with a hope that its leaders would act as the true representatives of the people and would ensure that interests of Jammu are safeguarded. The dismal performance of the BJP leaders after assuming power has disappointed the masses and entire Jammu region observing a complete bandh for six consecutive days sent a strong message to BJP leaders that people are angry with them. "During the election campaigning BJP leaders promised moon and stars to the people and assured them that they would not remain subservient to Kashmiri leadership," said an analyst. He said that promises made by the BJP leaders during elec...

Spurt in terror-related incidents in J&K
BJP a mute spectator
8/7/2015 12:19:08 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 6: Kashmir based parties adopting soft approach towards separatism has encouraged the separatists and has even boasted the morale of terrorists sitting across the Line of Control (LoC). It's unfortunate a few Kashmir based parties believe in and preach Kashmiri Muslim sub-nationalism and miss no opportunity to identify themselves with those in Kashmir who use terror as a weapon to achieve their sinister design: Separation of Jammu & Kashmir from India and its conversion into a theocratic state with rogue Pakistan as its source of inspiration. It would not be an exaggeration if someone says that the Kashmir-centric parties are part of the ongoing break and h...

BJP disappointed over resolution of AIIMS issue
8/7/2015 12:16:20 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 6: As the suspension of Jammu Bandh by AIIMS Coordination Committee following Union Health Ministry's letter on identifying land in Jammu and Srinagar has provided a big relief to the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, the development has disappointed a number of BJP ministers and legislators, who were eying some personal gains out of the impasse. Hopeful of some heads getting rolled down in the wake of controversy, some BJP ministers were dreaming of Deputy Chiefministership while a number of the party legislators were too expecting reshuffle and major responsibility for them. However, the suspension of six-day Jammu Bandh and life returning to n...

8/7/2015 12:15:39 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 6: In what can be seen as the J&K Government itself pushing its officials to luxurious stay during visits to New Delhi and burdening its exchequer, a circular that was issued early last month has allowed the officials to stay at expensive and posh hotels like Hotel Ashok and Hotel Samrat against the reimbursement which is quite minimal in comparison to actual rent and expenses in these hotels. This arrangement has been 'made' by the Deputy Resident Commissioner New Delhi on the contention that there are very limited number of rooms in Guest House accommodation available in the Guest House (JK House) which remain occupied almost entire year as a result of whic...
