Jammu, June 9: In the contempt filed by one Avikash Choudhary a contractor seeking directions for the payment in regard to completed works of Shamshan Ghat in Gadigarh undertaken in 2010 whereby a State High Court directed to release the payment of contractor but the same order was not implemented, the Justice Tashi Rabstan directed that salary of Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B), shall not be released by the Department till further orders if he fails to release pending dues to the petitioner. When this petition came-up for hearing today, Justice Tashi Rabstan after hearing both sides observed that Mohd. Abdullah, Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B), Division- I Panama Chowk, Jammu, who is present in person in court, stated that a cheque of Rs.28,09,800/- out of the total amount Rs.50,98,761/- is lying with him. He is directed to deposit the cheque before the Registry today itself. "On deposition, Registry shall release the amount in favour of petitioner after proper verification and identification, court said. Court further observed that However, Mohd Abdullah assures the Court that the remaining amount in full in the shape of Cheque shall positively be deposited in the Registry within a period of two weeks' from today. Upon this High Court directed that he may do so, failing which salary of Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B), shall not be released by the Department till further orders. |
