Early Times Report
Rajouri, Jun 9: Nowshera police reportedly to investigate suicide incident under section 306 RPC allegedly committed by a young housewife under suspicious circumstances at the house of her in-laws at Dabar village, after parents/relatives alleged that she was murdered by in-laws .
As per sources, on getting information about the death of her daughter, the mother Neel Kamal along with family members and relatives rushed to Dabar and had verbal as well as physical scuffle with the relatives of her son-in-law alleging they had killed her daughter for dowry.
"Jayoti Sharma was married to one Rakesh Kumar resident of village Dabar in Nowshera tehsil and they have a 10 years old daughter. Neel Kamal reportedly claimed that her daughter was repeatedly tortured by in-laws for bringing more dowry," sources said.
They said, "On Monday Jayoti reportedly had consumed some poisonous substance and after preliminary treatment at sub district hospital at Nowshera was shifted to Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) at Jammu where she died today."
Sources added that the cremation of Jayoti was not attended by her in-laws family members including her husband and were reportedly performed by an uncle of husband of victim.
Maintaining that she can't commit suicide and was allegedly killed by her in-laws including husband, Jayoti's mother and family members while demanding police action in this matter further have alleged that Jayot's in-laws in nexus with police took her body to Dabar from a long route while they were waiting for her body at Nowshera bridge.
"Later when they rushed to village but they were stopped by Jayoti's in-laws and relatives to interfere in any ritual," lamented a relative of victim.
Apprehending foul play, mother and other relatives of Jayoti demanded police action. Sources said that first police wanted to investigate the matter under 174 CrPC but it was objected by parents and after their mounting pressure police reportedly agreed to investigate the case under section 306 RPC (abetment of suicide).
"Police have taken cognizance of the matter after the allegations leveled by the parents and have started investigation after completing legal formalities including recording of statements. The matter will likely be investigated under section 306 RPC" said Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP Rajouri.
