DIC Kathua organizes symposium on Drug Addiction

Kathua, June 9: To aware the students about the harmful effects of drugs, District Information Centre, Kathua organized a Inter-School Symposium on the topic, "Drug Addiction- a social menace", here at Rainbow Modern Higher Secondary School Kathua today.
CEO Lakahnpur Sarthal Development Authority Dr Bharat Bhushan , was the chief guest on the occasion.
Chairman Kapil dev Sharma, Principal of the school Asha Sharma, staff and large number of students of different schools were also present on the occasion.
Seven students from different schools of Kathua town participated in the symposium and expressed their views on the social evil prevalent among the young generation. All the speakers voiced the need to educate youth to refrain them from the evil habit of drug consumption. Different remedial measures were also suggested by the speakers to discourage addiction of drugs among the people of all age.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Dr Bharat Bhushan appreciated the efforts of the information department for providing platform to the students to express their views on the topic. He said the menace of drugs is making youth isolated and week resulting degradation of social values among youth. He said youth should channelize their energies in sports and other co curricular activities to live healthy life.
Principal of the School Asha Sharma thanked information department for giving an opportunity to the students to express their views.
Ashish Singh (Executive Secretary Red Cross) and Gurpreet Singh (Information Department) adjudged the participants of the symposium.
Harneet Kour bagged first position, Ambika Sharma was declared second and Lalita Devi was declared third. The winners and participants were also given away certificates and mementos.
