Police produces challan in minor's rape, abduction case

Kishtwar, Dec 13: A challan was produced in the Munsif Court Kishtwar here today against six accused in connection with the rape and abduction of a minor girl (14) in this hilly district.
As per the details available with "Early Times", Marwah police registered case on 18/8/2002 under FIR.No 30/2002 U/S 366/376/343/109 RPC on the bases of the complaint filed by the father of the rape victim who belongs to nomad family and incident occurred during summer transition.
The Complainant alleged that accused Mohammad Iqbal Bakerwal Son of Jumma Bakerwal of Hiranagar Kathua enter into his makeshift home (Dhok) and committed rape upon his daughter after finding her alone at home. "The accused later along with his eight other associate barged into his house and abducted his daughter, the father of victim alleged in his complaint.
After registration of an FIR Marwah police started its investigation and arrested the accused and others and produce them in the Court. However a local court released the accused on bail including the main accused. Thereafter the accused jumped their bails and evading their arrest.
Meanwhile in a latest twist DySP Irshad Ahmed Ahanger under the supervision of SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Kumar Wazir and Additional SP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom managed to trace the six accused with the active role of SHO Warwan Mohammad Shafi and today produced the challan against six persons while three of the accused were declared as absconder by the Court U/S 512 Cr.PC.
According to police reports the six accused against whom police produced challan here today have been identified as Mohammad Iqbal son of Jumma Bakerwal Resident of Hiranagar Kathua, Asgar Ali son of Abdul Rashid Pajwala Resident of Jatwal Samba, Mohammad Shabir son of Mohammad Latief Bakerwal Resident of Vijaypur, Sardar son of Bashir Ahmed Bakerwal Resident of Parmadal Bishna, Mohammad Ashraf son of Abdul Rashid Bakerwal Resident of Reasi and Abdul Latief Son of Noorani Bakerwal Resident of Vijaypur Samba. Police reports added that three accused (declared absconders) against whom a warrant u/s 512 CrPC stands issued today are Ghulam Jan Son of Gugra Gujjar, Mohammad Ashraf alias Kalla Son of Lala alias Gorra Khan all Resident of Brarie Wagan Anantnag presently Kathua. DySP Irshad Ahmed Ahanger said that the accused and the complainant negotiated the matter at its own level after getting bail from the Kishtwar Court. He said that later in order to escape the punishment, the accused married with the victim but later disappeared.
He also said that though the victim was produced in the court in the year 2002 who recorded her statement U/S 164 Cr.PC stating she got married with accused out of her own will but also forgot to bring the matter into the notice of the Court/Police. Police officer said as law takes it own course and it is up to the Court to decide the case on the merits of investigation conducted by the police.
