| The curious case of SMC's Health Officer | | |

srinagar, Dec 13: An official is managing his posting within weeks in Srinagar Municipal Corporation after he is transferred from there.
During the last 13 years, he has been posted five times in the SMC.
"He is time and again posted in SMC despite his involvement in various controversies. It is because he his influence and has a political backing," sources said.
The official was posted as Health Officer in SMC from March 27, 2003 to September 15, 2006. When he was transferred from the SMC, he returned within a month on October 10, 2006 and was posted till May 29, 2007.
The official again made his comeback in SMC in 2013 and was removed in 2014. Now again he has been posted there in June this year. Before that he was I/C Medical Superintendent GB Pant Children Hospital.
In 2014, he was transferred after he acted against two top business companies of Kashmir for adulteration in milk and spices and served closure notices. But there were reports that the official didn't take any action against others and resorted to pick and choose policy.
"Many were unhappy with him over pick and choose policy," an official said.
Before that he was spotted at a Christmas party in Gulmarg in December 2013 reportedly organized by a private company which was under scanner for food adulteration. Some journalists known for their links with PDP also attended the party.
His fresh posting in the SMC has raised eyebrows. "It is very strange that in one month he is being transferred from here but next month he returns here," an official of the SMC said.
The official said it raises serious question how the official is being posted again and again in SMC. "Some minister or senior official wants him to get transferred from here but the other official again posts him there for their own interests. It has confused all employees that when he was transferred here after some controversy or allegations then why he is again been posted," the official said.
He said once even the government had told him that he was not competent to hold this position. But when there was reshuffle in the cabinet, he was again posted in SMC. |
