Every Tom, Dick and Harry trying to dictate terms
Track-II team meeting Pak agents in Kashmir
12/13/2016 11:46:05 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 13: The independent MLA with separatist leanings Er Rashid and so -called civil society members in Kashmir are not leaving any stone unturned to appease the separatists and their mentors sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) by issuing statements like "J&K is not an integral part of India," "plebiscite" is the only solution, hold talks with militant leadership and other absurdity.
After meeting the track-II delegation led by former foreign minister Yashwant Sinha, the MLA Langate, who represents a small constituency in north Kashmir issued a statement stating: "During my one-and-a-half hour meeting with former Indian foreign minister Yashwant Sinha led delegation I reiterated that J&K is not India's integral part and the only way to resolve the dispute is holding a free and fair plebiscite on both sides of the LOC."
Er Rashid said, he emphasized on the need to talk to militant leadership and asked New Delhi to realise the bitter fact that it is "militant organizations and the Kashmir movement is indigenous" and labeling everybody as Pakistani agent is unacceptable and unfair.
A Kashmir watcher said, "Er Rashid should know that no one has given him the mandate to talk on behalf of the people. He represents a small constituency and he should concentrate on resolving the issues faced by the people of his constituency rather than poking his nose into sensitive affairs."
Taking a dig at the Yashwant Sinha led track-II team, he said, "This team has no mandate to take any decision vis-à-vis Kashmir. Despite the team knowing its limitations it has started meeting every Tom, Dick and Harry. The so-called stakeholders who are meeting this team are themselves confused and don't know what they are talking about. Sinha led delegation should make it clear to the people its meeting that plebiscite and Azadi are not possible and they should stop dreaming about it."
The Kashmir High Court Bar Association members, who met the delegation, stressed that there should be "no more cosmetic approach" and it is high time to resolve Kashmir issue by talking to Hurriyat leadership."
The members of Kashmir Centre for Social and Development Studies (KCSDS) Prof Hameeda Nayeem and Shakeel Qalander urged the delegation that Kashmir needs to be dealt with politically.
An analyst said, "It's strange that Sinha led delegation is talking on the lines which are not in consonance with the policy of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government vis-a- vis Kashmir. This track-II team should realize that it cannot cross the line and it has got no mandate to talk about the things which don't fall in its domain. It should make the people understand that future of Jammu and Kashmir is secure with India and no power on earth can snatch it from India. The track-II team should make people understand that they should stop following separatists and not to get misled by the Pakistani agents whose only aim is to destroy Kashmir and fuel uncertainty in the region."
He said, "The track-II team members should meet the real stake holders like businessmen, transporters, students and others who have suffered during the past five months of turmoil. Meeting the people who have no stakes would hardly serve any purpose."
