Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 13: Seemingly unsatisfied with the functioning of Jammu and Kashmir Medical Corporation Limited (JKMSCL), Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today reportedly reprimanded Managing Director (MD) of JKMSCL for poor management of the corporation. Moreover, CM also directed the oncerned authority to appoint IAS/ KAS officer on MD post rather than a doctor, to avoid any conflict of interest in the Corporation's functioning. Reliable Sources told Early Times that CM Mehbooba Mufti called Board of Directors' meeting of JKMSCL to review the progress of the Corporation in which Financial Commissioner, Planning and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, Commissioner- Secretary, Finance, Navin Choudhary, Secretary, Health and Medical Education, MK Bhandari, Director, SKIMS, Prof. A. G. Ahangar; Principal, GMC, Jammu, Prof. Zahid Geelani, Principal, GMC, Srinagar, Prof. Kaisar Ahmad; Managing Director, J&K MSCL, Dr. Yashpaul and other senior officers were present on the occasion. Sources stated that MD had a proposal to strengthen the powers of MD and its Corporation during the meeting but CM refused to do so and she added the MD post is for IAS/KAS rank not for a doctor. During the meeting an issue to conflict of interest was also raised. Showing disappointed on the functioning of the Corporation which is allegedly failed to run the Corporation smoothly and provide drugs and other items to the government hospitals across the State, CM also directed to Health and Medical Education Department to appoint IAS/ KAS rank officer to avoid any conflict of interest in the Corporation rather than a doctor. "Earlier, MD of the Corporation has raised number of problems and other issues related to the JKMSCL viz shortage of space for drugs, manpower, provide additional space at Super Speciality Hospital Jammu and others, "Sources said and , adding that showing disagreement on the demand of MD, the Principal of GMC Jammu Dr Zahid Geelani refused to provide additional space at SSH Jammu and he said that SSH and GMC Jammu have already provided space to the JKMSCL in the premises due to which the hospital is facing shortage of space. Geelani also demanded to vacate space which is occupied by the Corporation as the Corporation's store is ready to use. Sources further said that Principal of Indira Gandhi Government Dental College and Hospital (IGGDC) Jammu raised issue that the Corporation is occupied space of old Pyschitary Hospital Ambphalla and demanded to vacate space so they can run Post Graduation course in the premises with smoothly. Later, CM asked the Health and Medical Education Department to ensure availability of adequate quantity of medicine in the hospitals so that the patients don't have to run from pillar to post to get the same and also directed to corporation management to ensure that complaints of non availability or spurious drugs do not come and supplies are optimally tested before use by patients. During meeting, the Board decided that from April, 2017 all the hospital supplies would be rooted through J&K MSCL only for which she directed all concerned to furnish their demands of requirement in advance. She also stressed on using generic names for the medicine being prescribed at the hospitals. |
