Government grants ex-gratia to 'terrorist sympathizer'
'Appeasing policy'

Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 13: After failure of healing touch policy, state government led by PDP-BJP has now initiated an 'appeasing policy', apparently another attempt to 'integrate' supporters of terrorists in Kashmir.
In a latest insignificant development, the office of the deputy commissioner Pulwama has listed the names of 106 deceased, injured and those whose property got damaged and announced Ex-gratia relief to17 of them, which included once declared over-ground worker of the Hizbul Mujahideen.
"At serial number 9 on the list is the name of Khalid Wani, the elder brother of Burhan Wani," said sources adding that the 25-year-old Khalid was killed by Army claiming him to be a sympathiser of terrorist.
"The army claimed Khalid had been operating as an over-ground worker for the Hizbul and was killed in an encounter," said sources, adding that now the civil administration has contradicted the army claims and announced relief for Khalid's family.
"This is sheer appeasement policy. The government is trying to appease sympathizers of terrorists and nothing else. Contradicting Army and granting ex-gratia shows intentions of the government, otherwise why after twenty months later, the government realised to provide him ex gratia," said sources, adding that the government has invalidated the army's claims, thus demoralizing them. They said that condition for granting compensation is that the dead person should not be a militant.
Taking a dig at the leadership of self-proclaimed nationalist party BJP, sources said that they are equally responsible for giving hype to terrorists and their sympathizers.
"This is very unfortunate that self proclaimed nationalist party has minced no words in this regard," said sources, adding that the leadership of BJP would had given consent to the list without considering the repercussions of contradicting claims of the army and supporting terrorists.
"Isn't it amounts to disgracing credibility of the Army, isn't it belittling them. The BJP holds equal share in the government and it's their responsibility to take stand of the Army," said sources, their drama of paying tributes to martyrs is exposed, as they believe in providing monetary and other supports to the sympathizers of terrorism.
The sources further said that had the BJP been in opposition, they have created ruckus over the issue, but power hungry leaders are now supporting anti-national activities with impunity.
