 Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 13: Renowned Dogri, Hindi and Sanskrit Scholar, Writer and poet and literature Dr. Satya Pal Shrivatsa passed away tonight after a prolonged illness. He was 85 years old. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Manu Shrivatsa (ex President Press club Jammu who remained associated with 'Jansatta' for many years) Kanav Shrivatsa, and Kunal Shrivatsa (Sr Correspondent with Early Times) and daughter Neena. Born in a remote village of Sialana in 1932 in Tehsil Billawar, District Kathua, Dr Shrivatsa with his dint of hard work and determination attained a mark for himself in the field of education and literature. Dr Shrivatsa was awarded with Babu Ganga Sharan Singh Award instituted by Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Agra which was conferred by the then President of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam on 14.9.2006 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, in recognition to the contributions made to promote Hindi in J&K. He received cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a citation. He also received Sahitya Maha Mahopadhyaya award by Hindi Sahitya Sammelan Prayag (Allahbad) in 2004. He remained associated with several literary organizations of Hindi, Dogri and Sanskrit. He is survived by his wife Santosh Shrivatsa, Daughter and Son-in-Law Neena and Dr. Chander Mohan and three sons and daughter in laws, Manu Shrivatsa (Ex-President of Press Club of Jammu) and Ila Shrivatsa, Kannaw Shrivatsa (Structural Design Engineer, Dubai) and Tuleka Shrivatsa and Kunal Shrivatsa (Senior Correspondent Early Times) and Ruchi Shrivatsa respectively.Besides grand children including Kandeel, Koshika, Navya, Nahush, Nitant, Navtika and Nishank. His sudden demise was condoled by media fraternity, literary luminaries, and close relatives.
