Jammu, Dec 13: The Health Department has revised existing rent policy for the fair price shops operating within premises of government hospitals in Jammu. The department has directed Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents to provide detail of such shops. According to sources, the detail of existing fair price shops would be placed before the Standing Committee constituted under a revised policy. "The committee is empowered to give extension for another two years to allottee under the new policy", sources said. The allottee has to make payment of premium equivalent to 50 percent of the market price determined by the committee with 30 percent increase in the rent within 30 days of issuance of letter of intent. Sources said the Directorate of Health Services Jammu has asked all CMOs and MSs to furnish complete record of fair price medical shops running in the government health institutions in their respective areas. However, sources said the policy has been revised to protect some defaulter pharma entrepreneur. "In a similar case, rent to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore for a fair price medical shop in Sarwal Hospital has not been recovered by the department", sources said. "Due to political intervention, the huge rent for the medical shop at Sarwal Hospital is yet to be recovered," said sources. They said the pharma entrepreneur allegedly enjoys close proximity with former Health Minister. "Unfortunately, despite change of guard, the administration is reluctant to recover such a huge amount", they added. Sources informed that the management of Sarwal Hospital had rented out a shop in its premises to one Rajinder Gupta, and as per bidding rules Rs 38 lakh was to be paid by allottee to hospital annually. Sources said that on December 30, 2014 Director Health Services Jammu directed Medical Superintendent, Sarwal Hospital to recover pending dues from the allottee. "The balance due on account of bidding money amounts to Rs 95.50 lacs", the DHS Jammu Directed to MS Sarwal Hospital recover the dues. |
