SRINAGAR, June 17: people's Democratic Party leaders Mufti Mohd Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti are not just Pakistan and militant-friendly. They are also rabble-rousers. They have developed the art of interpreting trivial incidents in lurid colours so as to inflame popular feelings and their objective always is to instigate the common Kashmiri Muslims against India. They thrive on divisive and communal politics. They, like all the Kashmiri separatists, see in the divisive politics an opportunity that helps them promote their selfish intentions. Hence, no sane person would ever endorse the line they have adopted, especially after November 2005, when they were forced by the Congress to abdicate the state power.
However, one cannot overlook what the Muftis have been saying since last Sunday regarding the prevailing anarchical conditions both in Jammu and Kashmir. JAMMU, June 17: The shrieking silence and the eerie environs enveloping the area in Nai Basti where a 10 years old sibling was snatched by cruel hands of destiny a week ago presented a ghostly look with agony and despondency writ large over the inhabitants there.
A mother wailing through a throttling throat that denies swallowing a single loaf of bread since the unfortunate happened is more than a half-dead cabbage unable to come out of the loss she has borne.

JAMMU, June 17: A requisition was made by the state to the Centre over an year back to raise five additional police battalions. Given the fact that J&K police are short of men to take on militants and deal with normal Crime, the union government has still not taken any decision on it.
The fate of the written request made in this regard was still not known, official sources said.

JAMMU, June 17: A Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) district commander was killed by security forces in a gunbattle at Behota in Marmat area of Doda this afternoon.
Police sources said acting on a tip-off about the presence of HM district commander Abdul Qayum in a populated area of Behota, police and army yesterday launched a joint operation to hunt him down. The whole area was cordoned off, and all entry and exit points to the area were plugged, the sources added.
